Why do some women have massive busts?

Dolly Parton has postponed her tour until April because her breasts are causing her back pain:

Dolly said in a statement: ""Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems."

But why do some women have such massive busts?

Could it be that the answer is merely statistical? i.e. the size of women’s breasts follows some sort of bell curve, with a small number of women having either huge busts or being flat-chested, but with the majority of women having an average bust size? Or is there some other explanation?

Well it’s not clear from what I can gather on the net, but my guess is that Dolly Parton could be an outlier – i.e. a statistically rare occurrence that doesn’t even lie on the normal distribution bell curve!

But what’s interesting is that women’s busts are getting bigger as time goes by. Just look at this family below (from the Daily Mail):

And the view that bust sizes are expanding is supported by sales data of bras from department stores across the US and Europe.

The “culprit” seems to be either hormonal effects from the pill or changes in diets.

Milkshakes and French fries?

Eat up ladies!
